Introduction to Skimountaineering (Skimo). Are you an adventure seeking spirit that likes to go on summits and traverses and would like to ascend the steep tops of Northern Norway that require the knowledge, tools and equipment you might not have at this very moment? This introduction will give you a solid start to reach your goals. Learn how to plan alpine adventures and risk assessment. Learn how to adjust and use of crampons and alpine axe. Learn how to stop a dangerous fall in steep terrain. Learn how to attach your skis and axe in a safe and practical manner to your backpack Vital first-aid skills and routines for a safe journey in the Norwegian mountain home The trainin starts with an explanation about what you are about to learn, safety instruction for the activity, and what is required of an individual. Crampons are adjusted to the boots. Departure to a nearby and suitable area to start the tour on ski before crampons are applied. Techniques on how to best venture on the skis are taught. We will practice in falling techniques, how to use your axe to slide and brake. Safety routines for venturing in the terrain is being practiced as well. We also go through first-aid skills that you need to know, and how to act if an accident should occur.
